When you are approved to become a permanent resident of Canada, an immigrant visa is issued in the passport. With this visa, you will enter Canada and officially become a permanent resident of Canada at the airport or the port-of-entry upon arrival – this is called “landing”. At the landing, you will receive a document called the Record of Landing (IMM 1000) or Confirmation of Permanent Resident. This landing paper will be your immediate proof of permanent residence.
