Visitor Extension

If you are in Canada on a visitor status and you wish to stay longer, you have the option to submit an in-Canada extension of your visitor status to the local IRCC office in order to obtain a Visitor Record without having to leave Canada.

A Visitor Record will only be issued if you are able to demonstrate the reasons for the extension as well as provide enough documentation and information on the ties to your home country, the purpose of the continued visit, your financial capability as well as your immigration history in and outside of Canada. During the processing of the extension, you will have implied visitor status in Canada.
