I am an engineer, can I immigrate to Canada under the skilled worker program?
There is an immigration category in Canada aimed at skilled professionals who can demonstrate an ability to settle in Canada and take part in the Canadian economy. As an engineer, you should be able to apply under this category known as Federal Skilled Workers. It is a point based category, and you get points for your age, language skills (French or English), qualifications, job experience, etc. The basic requirement is that you have at least one year of continuously paid experience in a single listed occupation, or you have a valid job offer in Canada, or you are a Ph.D. student enrolled in Canada.
